Since 2013, Chrysler has been denying that their vehicles have a gas tank defect and have maintained that they have upheld National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards.  With over 50 people killed as the result of deadly fires, the NHTSA believes that Chrysler is not taking the situation serious enough and needs to move faster in remedying the issue of over a million vehicles with this recall.

Chrysler’s dilemma is a picture perfect case for a personal injury case.  The most recent death comes after a 23 year old woman who happened to be 8-months pregnant was was struck from the behind in her 2003 Jeep Liberty.  The Jeep’s plastic gas tank melted, exploded and the woman was killed in the fire.

Chrysler’s fix is a new trailer hitch to protect the gas tank, but with many vehicles being turned away due to lack of inventory, less than 10% of Jeeps with this issue have been repaired and deemed safe according to safety experts.

If your Chrysler vehicle falls under this recall and you or someone you love has been involved in a Jeep fire, you need a personal injury attorney to represent you.  Your personal injury attorney can help organize a lawsuit entitling you to financial compensation because of your pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of income and decreased quality of life.
